thursday, september 14th // live from earth

Ambient beats floating around soulful raps and melodies – that’s cloud rap. Or better call it Trap Rap? Swag Rap? Actually it is not that easy describing the sound of Yung Hurn from Vienna and the Berlin-based crew Live From Earth. But what we do know: There what they are doing is absolutely great and they are the greatest influencers shaping the genre. Yung Hurn is an artist creating his own sound and visual world, somewhere between the pompous 80s synthesizer sounds, laid-back 90s Hip Hop, and clubby electro beats of the 2000s. On Thursday, Yung Hurn and his crew, Lex Lugner, Jonny 5, Dis Fig, DJ Bangkok, Caramelo, DJ Creep, DJ Gigola and ACOID, will have everybody moving in the me Club.

Doors open at 8 p.m. This event will need a pre registration, which opens at September 10th. You can register with the me Convention App. Get it now!

friday, september 15th // beth ditto live at she’s mercedes night

Her voice is unique, so is her style. We are thrilled to announce that the one and only Beth Ditto will perform live at the me Convention. Related to a special night hosted by She’s Mercedes, the singer and songwriter will perform live and exclusively at the me Club on Friday, September 15th. Related to the idea of the She’s Mercedes initiative Beth Ditto is what we call a real power lady. She was the lead singer of the award-winning band Gossip for more than 17 years and testimonial for a number of influencing fashion, music and lifestyle magazines. She has also launched her own fashion collection and strongly engages for LGBT rights. Even an institution like Karl Lagerfeld has fallen for her charm. After the band split up in 2016 Beth returned to the stage as a solo artist – and her sound is as fantastic than ever. Maybe even better! Her debut solo LP “Fake Sugar“, which was released in June 2017, is the proof for it.

Doors open at 8 p.m. This event will need a pre registration, which opens at September 14th. You can register with the me Convention App. Get it now!

saturday, september 16th // beginner live

Join us in the me Club for something extremely special.
Hamburg and Hip Hop go hand in hand with Beginner–no one has influenced German rap as much as these three guys from Hamburg City: Eizi Eiz (Jan Delay), Denyo and DJ MAD. With thirteen years in-between their classic album “Blast Action Heroes” and the current “Advanced Chemistry”, their witty lyrics and fresh sounds have kept them at the top of the German rap game. If you’ve seen them on stage before, you know that a Beginner show is a high-energy performance. Expect to hear bangers including evergreens like “Hammerhart” or “Liebeslied” and new ones like “Ahnma” or “Meine Posse”. This will make you bounce for sure, don’t miss it!
On Saturday, the 16th, Beginner perform an exclusive VIP gig for about 400-500 me Convention visitors in the me Club. Get your ticket now! Doors open at 8 p.m. This event will need a pre registration, which opens at September 15th. You can register with the me Convention App. Get it now!

amp

Gallusanlage 2, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

Amps — or amplifiers, to give them their full title — are used throughout the music industry to ramp up sound and impact. The same could be said about one of Frankfurt’s newest venues, Amp, which has certainly been making a noise since it opened last year near the WillyBrandtPlatz. Taking the hipster vibe of the Bahnhofsviertel a little further into the city, Amp’s interior is black and white and geometric, with the odd red wall adding a pop of color to the ubercool décor. The space is dominated by a large, dramatically lit bar, serving a range of weird but wonderful cocktails. Music comes courtesy of a changing lineup of local Frankfurt DJs, whose mission is to get the crowd dancing. Duringthe summer, the action mostly takes place outside — there’s a large open area outside that’s perfect for alfresco partying.

bar pracht

Niddastrasse 54, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

Café and deli by day, bar and micro-club at night: that is the concept of Pracht. Situated in the so-called Niddasack next to the 25hours Hotel by Levi’s, this little location is a place for everyone from banker to hipster, especially in the summer – and at times it includes the entire street. In its informal atmosphere one can observe the staff at all times. Even the look into the small kitchen remains unobstructed. Soups, sandwiches, meatballs, and other delicious snacks are prepared here. Once the last plates and mugs are cleared away the backroom becomes a dance floor after nightfall, DJ sets included. This could be too much movement for some, but those can promptly sink at the long bar, which occupies almost the entire front room. The drink menu includes: Beer, wine, and long drinks.

chez ima

Niddastraße 58, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

What began with the IMA Multibar in 2003 continues at the CHEZ IMA. Oriental cuisine and finely attuned taste components - that’s the idea behind the concept. “The feel good option“ is what the website rightly promises. The menu features special dishes such as tepid pulpo salad, roasted lamb shanks and broad beans with cognac gravy or Libanese orange cake with pistachio ice cream. The place also offers the probably most famous appetizer plate of Frankfurt. It includes couscous, raita, humus and potato thalers, continuing and old family recipe. The location is also quite special: the 25hours Hotel by Levi’s at Niddastrasse is not only one of the most salient hotels of the city but especially the quiet backyard offers a great contrast to the hectic trouble of the Bahnhofsviertel. In addition to this the IMA Rooftop offers a very special skyline view.

Münchener Strasse 12, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

Like all genius ideas, Club Michel’s concept is simple: a supper club that feels like home, but serves up great food, along with the opportunity to meet new people. An evening spent in the small restaurant, with its big panorama window and long communal tables, is an unpretentious experience. In line with it’s philosophy, it feels just like ‘having dinner with friends’ — a mood of intimacy intensified by the fact that you can’t just walk into Club Michel: there’s a bell and a door code. The amazing food (there’s a new guest chef every week) is enhanced by great local wine and cool sounds from Frankfurt’s top DJs. Want to know what’s on the menu? Simple register on the website.

Friday is pasta day. Pasta Ottimo is already an integral part of Club Michel—for a good reason, because al dente is a principle here and the pasta dishes would stand their own in Bella Italia. Livesaver Kitchen is a Saturday tradition at Club Michel and means vegetarian dishes served in small bowls and pots perfect for sharing. On the menu: hummus, olives, baba ghanoush and all kinds of oriental staples are ready for you to try. Why the name Livesaver though? Well, because everything is vegetarian.

freitagsküche

Mainzer Landstraße 105, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

Intended as a restaurant employing artists to cook for their guests once a week, Freitagsküche has established itself in Frankfurt’s culinary scene. A lot has changed since it first opened in 2004: After several relocations the team including founder Michael Riedel and his partner Thomas Friemel have found a permanent home on Mainzer Landstraße, where they serve lunch daily. Their mainstay, however, remains: On Friday evenings artists and creative people don their aprons while Frankfurt eagerly queues up. Add to that a rather diverse program of evening entertainment, ranging from culture to parties, and you understand why there’s rarely an open seat in their cozy backyard location.

A lot is to discover regarding the toppings: it ranges from the classic variant with tomato, mozzarella, and basil to special combinations such as basil pesto, pulpo, blood sausage, and mozzarella or barbecue sauce, bacon, red onions, and horseradish. Dessert remains quite special, too: the mix of apples, nuts, and salted caramel sauce surely is a taste adventure.

pizzeria montana

Weserstrasse 14, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

A pizza that is so authentic, it could come right out of Naples – this is the objective, which Montana pursues since its opening and this is how it is baked. The place is no longer an insider tip among Frankfurters but foreigners might have to look twice: the bold blinking neon sign up front does not promise anything concrete but rather „Free Parking, Free Coffee, Freedom“. Tobias Rehberger, professor at the Städelschule, is responsible for this and an artist with high market value. Montana is reduced and rustic on the inside. Colorful walls, simple wooden furniture, and geometric constructs on the ceiling. In the large main room, where the counter and the pizza oven is situated, you sit in big rows. The oven itself is surely one of a kind: not only does it feature a bright smiley design but it can bake a pizza in just a minute with a temperature of around 400 degrees. Nevertheless, one can hardly call it fast food since just the best ingredients find their place on the dough, such as the gloriously aromatic fennel salami.
