Helpful information for me Convention participants

We’re so excited to welcome you to the me Convention in Frankfurt! To make your event experience as fun and hassle-free as possible, we’ve put together some helpful tips below. This page should cover your most essential questions, but if there’s something we’ve missed, you can always get in touch by email (

Getting there & around (plus parking)

Depending on where you’re traveling from, you’ll probably arrive at the Frankfurt airport or central train station. From there, it’s easy to get to the venue or travel around town by public transport.

Public transport (for free!): If you arrive at the airport, first take the S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof (central station). From the central station, you can take the tram 16 or 17, or S-Bahn S3, S4, S5 or S6 to Messe Frankfurt. You can also take the subway U4 to Festhalle/Messe.

Your me Convention ticket is also a public transport pass! Use it for free travel on all buses, trams, subways and commuter trains operated by the RMV in Frankfurt/Main (in 2nd class; including the airport) from September 11 to 13, 2019.

Walking: Frankfurt / Main is a very walkable city and all the me Convention venues are within easy walking distance of each other (including the evening event locations and Urban Hotspots). So, pack comfortable shoes and treat yourself to a stroll.

Driving & parking: If you do need to come by car, the most direct way to reach the Messe Frankfurt, Hall 1 is to take the exit for 'Westkreuz Frankfurt.' From there, follow the signs for 'Stadtmitte' (or from Frankfurt, follow the sign 'Messe') to the Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage or Europaallee. Then continue to the Skyline Plaza parking garage for public parking facilities.

Because the me Convention takes place during the IAA, the best parking options may differ on the day you arrive. The city has taken extra measures to inform visitors about where to park. Once you get near the venue, watch for digital signs to direct you towards available parking for IAA/Messe visitors. (There are no separate parking spaces specifically reserved for the me Convention at any of these locations. All parking is first come, first served.)

IAA visitor parking lots are located outside Frankfurt´s Environmental Emission Zone and can be used without an official emission zone permit (with the exception of 'Gleisdreieck').

Hotels & accommodation

For convenience, you probably want to stay within walking distance of the Messe Frankfurt. Here you’ll find plenty of options from some of the major hotel chains.*

However, if you’re looking for a more traditional vibe, you may wish to stay closer to the city center (Innenstadt) or Old Town (Altstadt).

*Please note: We don’t have any partnerships or deals with these hotels, and can’t guarantee availability.

If you want more ideas about where to stay, the Frankfurt Tourist Office are great places to start your search.

Badge pick-up (Registration)

From September 10 to 13, you can pick up your badge at the me Convention registration desk at the Messe in Hall 1. But if you’re looking for some added excitement, we suggest you stop by our alternative registration location on September 11: WeWork. Besides free coffee and a great atmosphere, there will be special activities going on there as part of our Exploration Day.

Additional information about tickets

Here’s a bit more information about some of the most common ticket-related questions:

Are tickets transferable?

If you are unable to attend this year’s me Convention, it is possible to transfer your ticket to another participant for a fee of €50. Changes can be made via the ticket shop. All ticket transfers must be requested before 11 September 2019. It is not possible to transfer tickets during the event.

Is there an age limit for attending?

Anyone is welcome to buy a ticket and attend the me Convention’s day program. However, there are some restrictions for evening events and sales of alcoholic beverages: Participants under the age of 16 are not allowed to attend me Convention activities after 10 pm unless they are accompanied by an adult. We are also prohibited from selling alcohol to attendees under the age of 16.

Do you offer refunds for unused tickets?

No, we don’t offer refunds, but if you let us know in time, it’s possible to transfer your ticket to someone else. (see above)

Is it possible to buy a one-day ticket for the me Convention?

No, all me Convention badges provide access to the full three-day program. Participants are welcome to participate for just one day if they prefer, but will still need to pay full price for the three-day ticket.

Using the me Convention app

To make the most of your me Convention experience, be sure to download the me Convention app (for iOS or Android). Besides the complete schedule and lots of helpful information, you can use the app to save your favorites, RSVP for workshops and events, connect with other attendees, submit questions for speaker Q&A and so much more.

After you download the app, you’ll need to log in. Use the same email address and password you used to buy your ticket with. The app uses your badge-holder email as your unique identifier.

If you checked out as guest or someone else purchased your badge with their account, you’ll need to create a new account. Open the app, click “log in to your account” >> “account help/create an account” and then select “create new account”. Fill in the requested information and create a new password, then click “continue”.

You’ll need to confirm your new account via email. After you click on the link, you’ll be directed to a SXSW sign-in page where you need to enter your email and password once again.

Finally, go back to the app and sign in with your new log-in information.

Except for one talk which will be held in German, all of the sessions and communications related to the event are in English. There will not be any translations available during the event.

Photos & videos

In general, you’re allowed to take photos and videos during the me Convention and share them on social media or wherever you like! If for some reason photos are not permitted during individual sessions, that will be announced at the beginning of the session.

During the me Convention, we’ll also have professional photographers and videographers recording the event. These images will be used by us for communications about the me Convention during and after the event. If you’d prefer not to have your photo taken, you can inform our staff when you pick up your badge. They’ll give you a special red lanyard that alerts all photographers that you should not be photographed.

General help and information during the event

If you have any questions during the event, just stop by the Info Desk at the me Base. Our staff will be happy to help!
